Bochvarski: If selection of consultant for Corridors 8 and 10 is successful, works on the ground will begin next year
Shtip, 12 October 2022 (MIA) - A procedure to select consultant for Corridors 10 and 8 is underway, and after it is closed, the Public Enterprise for State Roads will inform the Government on how many companies are in the running to win the tender, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski said on Wednesday.   Bochvarski added that if the procedure is successful, the phase of negotiations will begin between the consulting house and the company Bechtel-Enka, after which the procedure for the realization of these highway sections will be entered.   Asked which section will be done first, Bochvarski said it depends on the selection of consulting company and the negotiations to follow, but according to him, if there is not a lot of private land on the Gostivar-Kichevo section, the construction works should start there sooner.   “It is important to resolve property-legal issues in order for the construction works to proceed smoothly,” Bochvarski noted.   In addition, at the repeated procedure for selecting a consultant for the highways that will be built by the Bechtel-Enka consortium, bids can be submitted until October 17, and the most favorable bidder will be selected after 30 days.   “The entire procedure takes place in accordance with the Law on Public Procurement and the deadlines thereof,” the Public Enterprise for State Roads told MIA.   After the conclusion of the new procedure for selecting consultant for the highways, it is expected that the preparatory works will be completed by the end of the year, and after the design and expropriation, work will begin on the ground during the next year, Minister Bochvarski said in an earlier statement.   A consultant is selected for the highway sections Tetovo-Gostivar, Gostivar-Kichevo and Trebenishte-Struga-Kjafasan on Corridor 8, as well as Bitola-Prilep on Corridor 10 D by the Bechtel-Enka consortium.
