Skopje, 20 June 2023 (MIA) - Good preparation for the start of construction works is key to the realization of any project, as is the case with the motorways along Corridors VIII and Xd. Geomechanical analyses are currently conducted that will provide accurate field data for the Prilep-Bitola and Tetovo-Gostivar-Bukojchani motorway sections, says Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski.

Minister Bochvarski told Sitel it is important to carry out detailed research and then start with the works, for the purpose of swift and efficient realization of the project.

"The concept used by the Bechtel-Enka consortium is entirely new compared to the way in which previous projects had been implemented. The project designs are sometimes much older and do not correspond to the real-time situation, which results in unforeseen scenarios, whereas all stages of the project are now carried out in parallel - design, urban planning, land expropriation and construction," says Bochvarski.

On the rehabilitation of the Katlanovo-Petrovec motorway section, he promises it will be completed by the end of 2023, while adding that the Podmolje-Ohrid section within the Kichevo-Ohrid highway will be put into operation by July 10.
