Skopje, 4 September 2024 (MIA) - German company BMZ Group is set to launch its investment worth EUR 65 million in the Skopje technological-industrial development zone on Wednesday.

The groundbreaking event of a plant for production of lithium batteries will be attended by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, who said yesterday that the investment will open 700 jobs.

"Exports will rise and thus reduce the deficit and increase the GDP," said Mickoski and added that the investment came after removing the hurdles that piled up for months before.

In response, opposition party SDSM said the investment was agreed in September of last year by then-deputy PM for economic affairs Fatmir Bytyqi, a result of a months-long intensive process of negotiations.
