Bill on reorganization of ministries to be debated in Parliament session

Skopje, 7 June 2024 (MIA) – Parliament on Friday will hold its second session, whose agenda includes the draft law on amending the law on organization and work of the state bodies in a fast-tracked procedure. It was put forward by the VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski.

The agenda also includes two other items, namely verification of MPs’ term and a motion on the election of presidents, deputies of presidents, members and their deputies of the committees of the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia.

The Parliament should also confirm the term of the MP candidate in the sixth electoral district Imrlie Saliu – Fetai after the May 22 re-vote in several polling stations in this electoral district. The Parliament’s verification commission should confirm the verification beforehand.

The elaboration of the proposed amendments to the law on organization and work of state bodies states that the goal is to reorganize the ministries and state bodies in a way to allow correct functioning, how to avoid overlapping of the jurisdiction and adequate line of accountability based on defined indicators for successfulness of the work of the institutions.

“The ministries and state bodies will be reorganized in order to adjust their work to the modern needs of the functioning of the state bodies so as to introduce an increasing focus on the areas of energy, raw materials, mining as well as sports,” says the document among other things.

It also adds that the necessity to amend the law to allow new ministries to be established comes from the fact that some state bodies and administrative organization and independent bodies are not functional and not enough efficient to fulfil the rights, duties and interests of the citizens and legal entities.

VMRO-DPMNE put forward the bill on Wednesday, which paves the way for the government to be reorganized.

VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski after submitting the bills urged all lawmakers to support it. According to him, it will secure efficiency, modernization of the government as a way to support the standards of the citizens.
