Washington, 3 October 2023 (dpa/MIA) - US President Joe Biden brought a number of key allies and partner representatives together in a telephone conference on Tuesday to coordinate further support for Ukraine.

According to the White House, participants in the call were Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau, European Commission President von der Leyen, European Council President Michel, German Chancellor Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Meloni, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, Polish President Duda, President Iohannis of Romania, British Prime Minister Sunak and French Foreign Minister Colonna.

"Good phone call with leaders of EU, G7, NATO and Bucharest," von der Leyen posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Her post continued to explain how the support for Ukraine is "unwavering," listing the proposed support measures including new financial aid of €50 billion ($52.3 billion) for reforms and investments from the European Union.

By March 2024, one million rounds of ammunition are supposed to have been delivered to Ukraine and the EU also wants to help solve crimes committed by Russia.

"As Russia continues its brutal war we are all committed to supporting #Ukraine for as long as it takes," Stoltenberg wrote on X.

The White House plans to send a readout of the call.
