Skopje, 20 June 2023 (MIA) - Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Tuesday that the Bechtel and Enka consortium has been recently paid an advance for groundwork on Corridors VIII and X-d, but only the Public Enterprise for State Roads can give the exact amount.

Kovachevski told reporters that work on the corridors has begun, i.e. geotechnical surveys are underway. 

"Regarding the corridors, yes, work has begun. The contract is signed, and accordingly geotechnical surveys are now underway, followed by planning and construction. Bechtel and Enka are already working according to procedures and have a valid contract, and have also recently been paid an advance, and you can get the exact amount from the Public Enterprise for State Roads, which was made in accordance with the preparatory works for the start of the construction of the project because it involves planning, geotechnical surveys and implementation," Kovachevski said after Tuesday's event on the 70th anniversary since the establishment of the Krste Misirkov Macedonian Language Institute and 120 years since the publishing of the book "On Macedonian Matters". ssh/nn/
