Arsovski: Afghan civilians to stay in North Macedonia temporarily
Skopje, 1 September 2021 (MIA) – The government is involved in an extensive global humanitarian operation, and citizens should be proud of it, especially because we’re helping people whose lives are at risk, said government spokesperson Dushko Arsovski on Wednesday, in response to the opposition leader’s position against the decision to take in Afghan nationals.
Arsovski told reporters that arrivals are not refugees, but people who have worked in international organizations and who are temporarily staying in North Macedonia.
“We’re using all institutional capacities to help these people, who are not refugees, but people who have worked in international organizations and are staying in North Macedonia until the paperwork for their end destinations, such as the USA or other countries, is ready,” the spokesman said. dk/mm
