Belgrade, 6 October 2023 (MIA) - Serbian Defense Minister Miloš Vučević met Friday with Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Vasko Gjurchinovski, who is paying an official visit to Serbia, MIA reports from Belgrade.

Minister Vučević and General Gjurchinovski referred to the importance of continued cooperation in the defense sector and exchanged opinions on the political-security developments in the Western Balkans.

Vučević said commitment and good will from both sides is needed for further strengthening of bilateral relations and added that such meetings are the best indicator of this, while noting that the Open Balkan initiative is an excellent form of cooperation among regional states.

The Serbian Defense Minister positively assessed the presence of troops of the Army of North Macedonia in KFOR, "which represents the only guarantee for safety of the Serbian population in Kosovo."

General Gjurchinovski highlighted the excellent cooperation in the field of military medicine and military education, adding these joint activities contribute to the general bilateral relations, the Serbian MoD said in a press release.
