Skopje, 18 January 2023 (MIA) – The State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption has decided to submit a motion to the Government to determine the responsibility of Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski in connection with an untimely decision to ban vehicle inspection services by legal entity “Via Komerc” station, where, after irregularities were found, vehicle inspection service was provided to “Besa Trans” company, whose bus was involved in an accident in Bulgaria which killed 45 Macedonian citizens and left seven injured.
The anti-corruption commission has determined that the Minister had not acted correctly, because after receiving a report from the inspectorate which carried out checks and found irregularities in the station’s operation, he failed to issue an order within the stipulated period for the station to remove the irregularities, but instead he issued the order three months after receiving the report, i.e. three days after the accident in Bulgaria.
Due to the fact that the Public Prosecutor’s Office has already opened a case, and a court process is ongoing on the case, the commission decided to submit all evidence it has as a supplement to the evidence in the prosecution, and to submit a motion to the Government to determine the responsibility of Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski.
The anti-corruption commission pointed out it has not yet been established whether the traffic accident has occurred due to technical malfunction of the bus.
At Wednesday’s session, members of the anti-corruption commission also discussed among other a recording from the local elections, which shows Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani and Environment Minister Naser Nuredini using official vehicles for party purposes.
In response to a reporter’s question on what further action will be taken regarding the case, the anti-corruption commission said its task is to forward the material to the office of the Deputy PM for good governance for a decision to be made.
