Another 1,100 workers in bankrupt state-owned companies to be compensated
Skopje, 13 July 2021 (MIA) – The Government adopted Tuesday changes to the law on workers in bankrupt state-owned companies. Workers with at least 14 years of experience will be entitled to monthly compensation up to the next employment or retirement. “The law changes ensure a monthly benefit in the amount of 34 percent of the average net wage,” Prime Minister Zoran Zaev told a press conference. Workers with at least 15 years of experience were covered by the law until now. Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jagoda Shahpaska said that the other criteria remain in place. “The scope of the workers covered by this law is now higher by 1,100 workers, who will receive a monthly benefit in the amount of Mden 9.242 (EUR 150),” noted Shahpaska. According to her, about 13,000 workers in bankrupt companies will receive the monthly benefit up to retirement or the next employment. Shahpaska urged lawmakers on both sides of the isle to support the law because “it is their duty to work in the people’s interest”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSWr8G3nymY
