Skopje, 23 January 2026 (MIA) — Minister of Health Azir Aliu attended Friday morning a symposium held by the Zhan Mitrev Clinic on novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of cardiovascular disorders, the Ministry of Health said in a press release.

Addressing the gathering, Aliu welcomed its "interactive format, allowing for the exchange of experiences, improving clinical decision-making and strengthening cooperation between different specialties, aimed at providing better, safer and personalized care for patients." 

The health minister also highlighted the importance of continuing medical education for heart doctors in developing and increasing their knowledge, skills and performance.

In addition, Aliu spoke about the new anti-smoking bill, which the Ministry of Health has drafted to protect the population from smoking and improve public health, "taking into account that smoking causes cardiovascular diseases, which are on the rise both in our country and worldwide," the release said.

Health authorities, the release added, remain committed to following the most modern approaches in medicine as well as "continuously improving the conditions in public health institutions and purchasing the most modern equipment to develop the country's health care system." mr/
