Advisory body on use of names of historical figures holds constitutive session
Skopje, 5 October 2022 (MIA) – The advisory body to give opinion on the use of historical and other figures in the names of associations and other legal entities held its first, constitutive session on Wednesday in the Government.   The role of this body will be advisory, i.e. it will give an opinion on the character of historical figures and the way in which associations will be formed in order to avoid abuse of certain figures who have a negative context throughout different ages, the Government said in a press release.   Members unanimously elected Boban Petrovski from the Institute for History at the Faculty of Philosophy as chair of the body, and Biljana Mickovska from the Ministry of Economy as deputy chair.   The advisory body has seven permanent members nominated by the institutions themselves, and two more will be additionally appointed by civil society organizations and other institutions, depending on the figure to be discussed.   The permanent members of the body include Biljana Ristovska-Josifovska - professor at the Skopje University’s Institute for National History, Boban Petrovski – professor at the Faculty of Philosophy’s Institute for History, Nikola Minov – professor at the Faculty of Philosophy’s Institute for History, academic Dragi Gjorgiev – member of MANU, Antonio Pavloski - special adviser at the Ministry of Culture, Biljana Mickovska - head of the Department for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Safet Neziri - state adviser for educational policies at the Ministry of Education and Science, and Ana Trajcheva - registrar at the Central Registry of the Republic of North Macedonia.    “The advisory body is instructed to submit an annual report on its work to the Government, no later than the first half of every month of March for the previous year, for the purpose of keeping the Government updated,” reads the press release.
