Belgrade, 3 November 2024 (MIA) – Activists are staging a protest in Belgrade on Sunday in front of the building where several ministries are located, including the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure as well as the Prosecutor’s Office, calling for the resignation of the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić.
A police unit has been deployed at the entrance of the ministry.
The activist Ivan Bjelić requested on behalf of those gathered that Vesić resign quickly; otherwise, the government will be 'accountable for what happens on Tuesday in Novi Sad,' where a larger protest is planned.
Some of the gathered activists, who previously convened at the protest near the old railway station due to the tragedy in Novi Sad, are wearing red-dyed gloves and holding banners that say 'your hands are stained with blood' as a message to the authorities, while also shouting 'resignation,' Beta news agency reports.
Activists have announced that the current protest is only the beginning of a campaign of civil disobedience, with plans to participate in the upcoming protest in Novi Sad. They emphasized that if resignations are not submitted in response to the tragic accident in Novi Sad, their actions will become more radical.
