Skopje, 15 August 2024 (MIA) — Activist Jane Dimeski from the civic association A Chance for Centar said Thursday that as long as the government was not doing anything to prevent air pollution in the summer, people should expect a winter full of smog.
He said civic associations had asked politicians during their election campaigns to offer concrete measures that would be taken immediately after the formation of a new government.
"This government has given an ambitious promise to replace the heating systems in over 600 public buildings in Macedonia that use oil and crude oil," Dimeski said.
"But if they have done nothing so far this summer to start changing those heating systems, at least when it comes to these public facilities, the pollution will remain the same and we can expect a winter of smog.
"We can only pray for wind to blow from somewhere [and carry the pollutants away], given our full hospitals," Dimeski said. mr/
