Across the Lake open-air film festival begins in Dojran

Skopje, 8 August 2024 (MIA) — Ahead of its official opening on Friday, the third Across the Lake Festival of Balkan and Mediterranean film screened Wednesday evening Macedonian feature film for young adults "Stela" (2020) directed by Stojan Vujicic.

 

The festival also screened several children's animated films dubbed in Macedonian.


Earlier, a film literacy workshop was held at the Museum of the City of Dojran, with Across the Lake festival director Jani Bojadzi, filmmaker Stojan Vujicic and festival council chair Mimi Gjorgovska Ilievska.

 

 

On Friday, festival organizers will officially present Macedonian actor Vlado Jovanovski with the festival's Meto Jovanovski Award for outstanding film acting achievements.

 

Also on Friday, the last film Meto Jovanovski appeared in before his death, Miroslav Lekic's "Russian Consul" (2024), will be shown.


"The festival, the only one of its kind in Macedonia, will offer a program for everyone's taste, outdoors, on the shores of the Dojran Lake," festival organizers said.

 

 

Across the Lake will screen four feature films, several shorts, and one documentary through Aug. 11.

 

It will screen Svetozar Ristovski's "Father" (2019), Guillermo García López's "Even Though It's Night" (2023), Gjorce Stavreski's "Are You a Man" (2023), Christos Passalis' "Silence 6-9" (2022), Nebojsa Slijepcevic's "The Man Who Couldn't Remain Silent," Andrej Korovljeviс's "Hotel Pula" (2023), Sébastien Vanicek's "Infested" (2023), and other films. mr/
