Skopje, 22 August 2023 (MIA) – Medication for patients who have achondroplasia has been acquired for the first time, said Minister of Health Fatmir Mexhiti on Tuesday. The “Vosoritide” medication has been delivered to the University Clinic for Pediatric Diseases, procured for three patients, based on a request from the Clinic.

“It is my great pleasure to inform you that three brave children with a rare disease received the necessary medication which will improve the quality of their lives. For the first time, with a public procurement of medications for rare diseases for 2023, medication for patients with achondroplasia has been procured,” wrote Mexhiti in a Facebook post.

An additional Mden 50 million have been allocated to the budget of the program for treating persons with rare diseases for the procurement of the medication.
