Skopje, 19 July 2023 (MIA) - State Roads public enterprise director Ejup Rustemi said Wednesday that about EUR 167 million have been transferred to the Bechtel-Enka consortium until now.

"In compliance with the agreement and the financial programme approved by the Government, we are continuing to make payments to Bechtel-Enka. About EUR 167 million have been transferred until now, for mobilization and advance payments regarding Corridors VIII and Xd. They are currently conducting geomechanical testing at motorway sections Prilep-Bitola, Tetovo-Gostivar and Gostivar-Kichevo. Expropriation studies are also being developed, whereas planners for the sections are to be approved today or tomorrow, with all capacities working on design and planning in the country engaged in the process. Next week we will probably file a request to the Transport Ministry for the road corridors and begin with the expropriation upon receiving the approval, followed by construction works," Rustemi told reporters.
