12th Philosophical Film Festival ends with Golden Owl awards ceremony

Skopje, 10 June 2022 (MIA) — The 12th Philosophical Film Festival ended Thursday with a Golden Owl awards ceremony followed by a screening of Pelin Esmer’s "Something Useful" (2017) and a discussion with Turkish director and professor Serdar Öztürk.
According to organizers, the Golden Owl best short film prize from the jury went to Dania Bdeir’s “Warsha” (2020), and the audience awarded Ákos K. Kovács’s “Branka” (2021).
Nathalie Álvarez Mesén’s "Clara Sola" (2021) won the jury’s Golden Owl for best feature film, and Aleem Khan’s "After Love" (2020) won the audience award for best feature.
The Stefan Sidovski - Sido award for a short film went to Nyima Cartier’s "Quiet Man" (2021).
This year’s Philosophical Film Festival was held at the Cinematheque and its open air cinema, offering around 40 film screenings and 50 events featuring 20 local and international speakers.
In addition to its official selection of feature films and short films competing for prizes, the 2022 festival’s programming included a retrospective of Buñuel films and film philosophy workshops for high school students and children.
The Philosophical Film Festival is organized by the Philosophical Society of Macedonia. It was initiated by students at the state university’s Faculty of Philosophy in 2009. mr/
