Minchev: Europeanization doesn’t begin in Brussels, it begins here with honest work by every public servant

Tetovo, 7 October 2025 (MIA) - The Ministry of Public Administration launched Tuesday the second cycle of generic training for administrative officials from the Polog region at an event in Tetovo, continuing the implementation of the reform agenda for a professional, efficient, and modern public administration. The event was attended by representatives of the institutions, administrative officials, as well as experts and instructors involved in the training.

Minister of Public Administration Goran Minchev said the training is part of a continued process to build a new culture of work and a new spirit in the public sector.

“Public administration reform is not just a promise or empty words in one more government program, but real acts that are seen, felt, and are changing the everyday life of the citizens. There is no modern country without a modern administration. There is no trust without professional, responsible, and motivated public servants,” Minchev said.

The Minister said with the training, the country is setting a new standard in the way it looks after its public servants, with more than 600 people trained in the first cycle.

“These trainings are practical, modern, inspired by the best European examples and they aim not just to transfer knowledge, but also to change the work culture, to create public servants who aren’t working just because they have to, but because they want to make a difference,” Minchev said.

Minchev said over the past year the Ministry has made serious strides in public administration reform with new legislation strengthening accountability and transparency, as well as introducing new practices of professionalization and efficiency.

“The public administration is important as a foundation of the statehood and a driver of European integration. Europeanization does not begin in Brussels – it begins here, in every municipality, in every public servant who is working with honesty, respect, and integrity. Public administration is not an expense – it is an investment. An investment in stability, trust, and statehood. Today we are building a system that will be transparent, human, and European in spirit. Now is the time to show that the country can function differently – with order, principles, and results,” the Minister said.
