Mickoski: I expect VMRO-DPMNE to win local elections by a landslide

Brvenica, 4 September 2025 (MIA) -- Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski expects a landslide win by VMRO-DPMNE's candidates at the upcoming local elections because of their motivation, discipline, plans, platforms and vision, he said in response to a reporter asking him to comment on the party's new 16 picks to run in the mayoral races nationwide.

"These are people who I expect to win the next local elections. They are motivated, disciplined, with plans, with platforms, with vision and I am convinced they will add value to the lives of people in the municipalities they will be future mayors of. I expect a landslide win by VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition at the next local elections," Mickoski said.

He said his government was strengthening the nation's foundations the previous government had tried to destroy.

"Less than two months from now, the public will see this. So let's continue to build Macedonia through the reform process, to renew Macedonia, to strengthen the foundations the previous SDS and DUI government tried to demolish," Mickoski said.

The executive committee of the party at its session Wednesday picked their mayoral candidates for 16 municipalities.

For Kumanovo and Centar mayors, VMRO-DPMNE said they would endorse ZNAM candidates. The party also said they were still deliberating over their Kisela Voda mayoral candidate. mr/
