Skopje, 6 October 2025 (MIA) - As of October 7, the country is joining the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), with citizens and businesses able to make Euro payments in the same way as in EU member-states.
"As of tomorrow, Euro payments with SEPA countries will be up to six times cheaper and faster! A payment in the amount of EUR 500 that cost about Mden 1,600 (EUR 26) will cost about Mden 260 (EUR 4.2). SEPA means faster, cheaper and safer payments in euros for citizens and businesses," National Bank Governor Trajko Slaveski wrote in a post on X.
Back in March, the European Payments Council (EPC) approved the country's accession as the 39th member of SEPA, which strengthens its financial integration with the EU.
