Skopje, 7 April 2026 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said he was satisfied with the increase in exports in the first two months of 2026, noting that it was encouraging as there has been no decline, despite certain fears.
"The State Statistical Office released data yesterday that is, I would say, encouraging. But it is for the first two months, January and February, before the crisis began. The impact of the transporters' protest in January was practically offset in February. In February, we see an increase in exports of approximately 12 percent in euros compared to the previous year and imports have increased by approximately 10 percent in euros compared to the same period last year," said Mickoski.
According to him, when considering the first two months, both exports and imports are growing at the same pace of 2.4 percent.
"That means that we don't have a decrease as was feared, but rather an increase. Yet, this concerns the first two months. We will now see what the next months will be like - March, April, and depending on how deep the crisis is, we will take steps accordingly," Mickoski told reporters at Tuesday's launch of reconstruction works for streets in the Municipality of Aerodrom.
