Skopje, 17 October 2025 (MIA) -- Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska on a working visit to London met Friday with representatives of three British leading companies in the mining and energy industry to promote cooperation focused on responsible mining, energy security and green transition.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resurces in a press release, Minister Bozhinovska met with Anglo American, Central Asia Metals and Pacific Green representatives.
"The companies' representatives expressed their interest in strengthening their presence and investments in Macedonia while respecting national laws and European environmental protection, safety and social responsibility standards," the release said.
At the meeting with representatives of Pacific Green, a company that develops utility-scale battery energy storage systems and emission control technologies, Bozhinovska discussed the potential introduction of a system that stores electricity from renewable sources, such as solar and wind, in rechargeable batteries for later use. This, she said, was in line with the new Law on Energy and would help the country be more efficient in using renewables and maintain a reliable energy system.
She also said the country's new legislation was in accordance with responsible mining, energy security and environmental protection standards. "We see Macedonia as a country that provides investors with a predictable and transparent framework," Bozhinovska is quoted as saying in the press release.
The executives of Anglo American and of Central Asia Metals, already operating in the country, welcomed the new Law on Mineral Resources, which encourages the development of modern and environmentally responsible mining, as well as the forming of the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resurces, the release said.
According to the release, they noted that the newly established institution was a significant step forward toward better coordination, efficient communication and strategic resource management.
"They expressed their thanks for the ministry's professional approach and said the institution was a place where investors finally had a concrete and competent partner to cooperate with, to receive support from and to resolve issues related to energy and mining," the release said.
The energy minister confirmed the government's commitment to being a partner of serious and responsible companies, which follow European standards, invest in innovative and environment-friendly technologies and contribute to local economic progress.
"Our vision is clear: To build Macedonia into a regional role model for balanced energy and mining development, where economic growth goes hand in hand with environmental protection and our communities' well-being," Bozhinovska added.
Anglo American, Central Asia Metals and Pacific Green all integrate sustainability, safety and innovation in their operations, the release said, adding that they all confirmed the potential of deeper cooperation with their Macedonian counterparts. mr/
