VMRO-DPMNE and coalition secure majority in five of ten municipal councils in Skopje

Skopje, 20 October 2025 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE and its coalition have secured a majority in the municipal councils of five of the ten municipalities in Skopje.
VMRO-DPMNE will have a majority in the municipal councils in Aerodrom, Butel, Gazi Baba, Gjorche Petrov, and Kisela Voda.
In Karposh, VMRO-DPMNE will have the most seats in the 27-seat council, but not enough for a majority. The coalition “Experience for Success”, SDSM, and Levica have four seats each, three seats were won by independents, and one by ZNAM.
In the 23-seat council in Centar, SDSM has won the most seats – 8, followed by VMRO-DPMNE with 7, Levica – 3, ZNAM – 2, two independents, and one from the “Green Future” coalition.
In Saraj, even though Vlen’s candidate Muhamet Elmazi won the mayoral race, the DUI-led National Alliance for Integration will have a majority in the 19-seat council.
Vlen will have a majority in the 27-seat council in the Municipality of Chair.
In the 19-seat council in the Municipality of Shuto Orizari, the Union of Roma has won the most seats – 6, followed by Vlen and VMRO-DPMNE with 4 seats each, then NAI with 3, and Roma Alliance and Democratic Forces of the Roma with one each.
