Tripunovski: Pepper buyout going well, farmers getting higher subsidies

Skopje, 8 August 2025 (MIA) — Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Cvetan Tripunovski on a working visit to Gevgelija and Strumica to meet with local farmers praised the good crop of peppers and said the state purchase of the crop was going well, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy said in a press release.

Citing State Agriculture Inspectorate figures, Tripunovski said 4,143 farmers had been paid by the state for their produce as of Thursday.

He said three denars per kilogram was paid for all produce delivered to processing facilities. "In other words, we have paid over 259 million denars to 4,143 farmers," Tripunovski said.

Stressing that Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski's government was committed to supporting agriculture and horticulture, Tripunovski said the government subsidy per kilogram of peppers would be raised from three to four denars between August and October.

He said peppers purchased by the state during the rest of the year would get subsidies of six denars, instead of five, per kilogram. mr/
