Temperatures expected to soar, Health Ministry urges citizens to follow recommendations

Skopje, 7 August 2025 (MIA) - A significant increase in daytime temperatures is expected starting Friday and until August 13, which in certain regions may reach up to 39°C, according to the latest forecast from the Hydrometeorological Service.
On Thursday, the Ministry of Health called on the citizens to follow the general recommendations for protection from high temperatures.
It urged the citizens to stay inside in cooled spaces, especially during the period from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., as well as to ensure adequate fluid intake and to avoid alcohol and sugary drinks.
The other recommendations are as follows:
- Wear light, bright clothing and use protection for your head and eyes.
- Avoid physical activity during the hottest hours of the day.
- Pay special attention to children, the elderly, people with chronic illnesses, and pregnant women – these groups are particularly sensitive to high temperatures.
- If you experience symptoms such as dizziness, headache, nausea, or rapid heartbeat – seek medical help immediately.
- Postpone outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Ensure microclimatic conditions (cooled rooms with temperatures up to 25°C) at the workplace and at home.
The Ministry said it is carefully monitoring the situation on a daily basis and will act in accordance with the assessments and needs.
