Suspect in Skopje bazaar murder arrested in Kosovo

Skopje, 2 January 2026 (MIA) - The suspect in the murder of a 22-year-old Turkish national Ahmeti Mert Dogan in front of a bar in the Old Skopje Bazaar on New Yer's Eve has been arrested in Kosovo, and the procedure over his extradition has been launched.
The Ministry of Interior said a 25-year-old Turkish national with the initials M.T., currently residing in Tetovo, is suspected of murder and attempted murder.
The suspect stabbed the victim and injured his 23-year-old friend, also a Turkish national, and then fled the scene.
A public prosecutor has filed a motion for detention in absentia to the Skopje-based Criminal Court, on the basis of which an extradition procedure will be launched with immediate effect.
