Negotino, 11 March 2026 (MIA) - Police officers from border station Mihajlovo detained Tuesday a 24-year-old resident of the Skopje village of Studenichani under the suspicion of migrant smuggling.

Upon a tip, police officers attempted to stop a vehicle at the Gevgelija-Demir Kapija road section but the driver did not obey the officers' signals. Upon intercepting the vehicle, they found ten migrants from Egypt, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

The migrants have been transferred to the Gevgelija-based reception-transit center for further processing. The driver has been charged for migrant smuggling and a pre-trial judge issued a 30-day detention order.
