Skopje, 1 August 2025 (MIA) - We should stick to what is most important: the Copenhagen criteria; and what is a fundamental test for everyone – the rule of law, said President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova regarding the country’s Euro-integrations at a press conference Friday following the second meeting of the country’s Security Council.
According to the President, all attendees at the meeting highlighted their expectations and importance of the European Commission’s November progress report for the country.

“I, along with others, pointed out the need for more activity from the National European Integration Council in the Parliament, because it includes not only MPs but also a representative of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts and of NGOs... This is very important. Why? So that we can build unity, understand each other, and receive critiques and suggestions on time, so the legislation can truly be aligned with European standards, because it’s too late after the fact. The same applies to the Committee on European Affairs, which must be much more active, or at least active enough for us to be able to analyze the situation and respond to the comments made by the European Commission regarding the country’s progress in all areas,” Siljanovska-Davkova said.
