Skopje, 1 July 2025 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met Tuesday with the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Seville.

Discussing the country’s Euro-integration, according to her Office, Siljanovska-Davkova noted that “the difficult Macedonian compromises should be appropriately valued by the European Union”, adding that the country’s EU accession would be beneficial for both the Union and the candidate states.
The President described Spain as a key partner within NATO, the UN, and OSCE. She thanked the Government of Prime Minister Sánchez and Spain for the consistent support on the EU accession path.
Reaffirming the country’s commitment to the Euro-integrations, Siljanovska-Davkova reiterated her position that bilateral issues should not obstruct the accession process. Considering the turbulent geopolitical processes in the world, the President highlighted the need to preserve the credibility of the enlargement policy and stressed that the region should be integrated within the European family as soon as possible.

“The President gladly received the information from Prime Minister Sánchez that Spain is interested in increased economic cooperation in tourism, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, solar energy, and water resource management,” the President’s Office said in a press release.
Siljanovska-Davkova and Sánchez also discussed appropriate ways to commemorate the participation of Macedonian fighters in the Spanish Civil War.
