Series of earthquakes recorded in Ohrid and surrounding area
Skopje, 16 June 2025 (MIA) - Multiple earthquakes with epicentres in the Peshtani–Ohrid–Struga area, 102 kilometres southwest of Skopje, were recorded early Monday at 4:34 a.m. in the Ohrid region, the Seismological Observatory at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics reported.
Based on preliminary data from the observatory, the earthquake at 4:34 a.m. was felt in Ohrid and nearby areas with a magnitude of V on the European Macroseismic Scale. In the other southwestern parts of the country, the earthquake was felt with an intensity of III–IV degrees on the European Macroseismic Scale.
The quake caused anxiety among the population, but no material damage has been reported.
