Skopje, 16 February 2026 (MIA) - SDSM leader Venko Filipche denied Monday having any ties with cannabis companies operating in the country.

"This is another attempt to defocus rather than answer the real question, namely how did five tonnes of marijuana cross the border and end up in Serbia? Is the company listed in the document of the Serbian prosecutor's office tied to people serving in the incumbent administration? How did the shipment pass the police and customs controls?" Filipche told a press conference.

The SDSM leader accused the authorities of controlling a large media web over the past decade, used to spread fake news about the party and himself.

"Over 40 percent of the media are part of this web, including TV stations, web-portals etc. These are media outlets that create an anti-European narrative, stir nationalism, and take us nowhere," said Filipche.
