Saiti: Red Cross has transferred EUR 1.74 million, remaining funds to be paid soon

Kochani, 5 June 2025 (MIA) - It is good that all those involved in the crisis management after the Kochani fire have ensured that humanitarian assistance for the victims is collected in one pool and distributed according to the needs, said Macedonian Red Cross Secretary-General Sait Saiti on Thursday.

Saiti said Mden 107 million (EUR 1.74 million) have been already allocated, with Mden 49 million (EUR 800,000) left in the dedicated account for distribution.

"The funds were paid on six occasions, for three groups of beneficiaries: 63 families of the deceased, 116 injured persons treated abroad, and 71 persons hospitalized in the country. The funds paid to the families of the deceased amount to Mden 52 million (EUR 845,000), those paid to the families of the persons treated abroad stand at Mden 44 million (EUR 715,000), while families of persons treated in the country have received Mden 11 million (EUR 180,000) thus far. The Red Cross account still holds Mden 49 million (EUR 800,000) for this purpose," said Saiti.

He added that the payment of the remaining funds would be made after a review of the results from the evaluation of the injured and their health condition.
