Results in education visible after one year, to become clear at the end of Gov’t’s term: Education Minister

Skopje, 24 June 2025 (MIA) - Unfortunately, in the past seven years, nothing was done in the field of education to move it closer to the European educational space. After one year we have visible results, which will become clear by the end of this Government’s term, said Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska at a panel discussion Tuesday marking the Government’s first year in office.

Janevska highlighted that all stakeholders in education have been working towards the establishment of a modern educational system.

“Stable foundations have been laid on five significant pillars: strengthened legislation with the adoption of five laws and a few others by the end of the year; investments in infrastructure – seven buildings have been constructed and 20 are being reconstructed or expanded; the project for single-shift classes and the optimization of the school network; then the modernization of classes with the introduction of new curriculums; and textbooks procured last September which will be available during the next school year,” Janevska said.

Janevska said digitization and the introduction of artificial intelligence in classes are the goals of the modernization of education.

“With the modernization of the education system we are catching the last train to enter the European educational space, because until now, although we expressed the desire verbally, there was no real opportunity. Unfortunately, in the past seven years, nothing was done in the field of education to move it closer to the European educational space... We are building a modern educational system with a single goal – our students, our youth, to begin building and believing in true values and to improve themselves, to develop their competencies, skills, abilities, and to love their country. So that they can enter the labor market both at home and globally,” Janevska stressed.
