Private buses to resume bus service Tuesday after JSP makes partial payment

Skopje, 6 October 2025 (MIA) – Skopje's private bus drivers will resume bus service to the city's commuters Tuesday after the city's public bus service operator JSP paid six million denars to each of the three companies that were on partial strike, MIA has learned.

According to Jofi Bus company owner Jovica Zafirovski, they received the payment Monday afternoon.

"It is not a large sum, but we asked them to pay us something so we can continue operating. This is enough for us to operate in the next two weeks," Zafirovski said, adding that they were hoping JSP would pay them the remainder, as well, so they could provide uninterrupted bus service to commuters.

The owners of the private bus companies Jofi Bus, Vestor Trans and Rados demanded Friday that JSP repay its debt of 170 million denars, of which they said 90 million denars was due.

Private buses ran for only five hours Monday, from 5 to 10 am. mr/
