Skopje, 28 August 2025 (MIA) -- President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova has extended her best wishes to the Macedonian Orthodox Church, its leader Archbishop Stefan of Ohrid and Macedonia and the Orthodox faithful on the Orthodox feast of the Dormition of the Holy Mother of God being celebrated by believers nationwide.

"The cult of the Mother of God is a testament to our indomitable spirit and faith in her as well as to the importance of motherhood, unconditional love and family values," Siljanovska Davkova wrote.

"The Holy Mother of God, as the protectress of mothers and children, has a special place in our temples and homes, and most of all, in our hearts," she wrote.

This is why, she pointed out, many Orthodox churches dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary were often visited by people from different religions as well.

She said believers, this year as every year, would be spending the Dormition of the Holy Mother of God holiday with their nearest and dearest.

"I am looking forward to our overcoming the spiritual and moral crisis and restoring true human values," she added. mr/
