Skopje, 9 July 2025 (MIA) - Police officers arrested two migrant smugglers on Tuesday evening after finding several migrants earlier in the day on the road between the villages of Bogorodica and Stojakovo.
The police said it found 13 migrants – 11 from Egypt and 2 from Syria – on a local road between the villages of Bogorodica and Stojakovo around 5:40 p.m., and an additional 11 migrants from Egypt at around 6:30 p.m. near a factory in the village of Stojakovo.
The migrants were interviewed and taken to the Temporary Transit Center “Vinojug” in Gevgelija. They told officers that the group was led by A.A. (26) who was aided by I.K. (22), both from Syria.
The police said it then arrested two suspects, with charges expected to be filed due to founded suspicion of migrant smuggling.
