Skopje, 14 June 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristija Mickoski told journalists Saturday he expects the country’s economy to experience significant growth in the second quarter of 2025.
“All indicators published for the first month of the second quarter are unusually high, this is the fourth quarter under this Government, which could indicate that the situation has stabilized at zero. I am not saying we have growth, but considering that we were deeply in the negative, we have now reached a neutral state, and now we need to start rising,” Mickoski said, quizzed about the latest data by the State Statistical Office on industry turnover.
The Prime Minister stressed the indicators are encouraging, and the country should experience “exceptionally high” GDP growth in the second quarter of 2025.
“These are indicators that point out that in the second quarter we should have an exceptionally high GDP growth. I don’t want to be misunderstood when I talk about GDP, I am not saying that our GDP ranks third or fourth in terms of purchasing power or total monetary volume. But when we talk about percentage growth relative to our economy, we were fourth in Europe in the first quarter. If these trends continue, we could move up a few spots,” Mickoski said.
