Piles of garbage burning in Drisla landfill fire, shrouding parts of Skopje in smoke
Skopje, 10 September 2025 (MIA) -- The fire that broke out at the Drisla landfill at 3:15 pm Tuesday is still burning and has sent plumes of smoke over several parts of Skopje, the Crisis Management Center said Wednesday noon.
According to the CMC, the clouds of thick smoke are rising from the flaming piles of garbage in the center of the landfill.
Seven firefighters from the Skopje Fire Department are battling the blazes.
The fire has not spread and is not approaching any surrounding woods or neighborhoods, the CMC said. mr/
