Skopje, 31 July 2025 (MIA) -- The Parliamentary Committee on Election and Appointment Issues has decided to issue a public call to fill the vacancy of State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption president, after Tatjana Dimitrovska resigned from the post on July 25 over allegations of corruption.
Parliament accepted her resignation on July 29.
Charges against the nation's anti-corruption watchdog agency head were filed on July 18. The Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption accused her of disclosing official secrets. She had allegedly tipped off a defendant in the Additive case, Negotino Thermo-Electric Power Plant CEO Nebojsha Stojanovikj, suspected of abusing coal plant additive procurement procedures.
Dimitrovska is also suspected of having a fake security clearance certificate.
The state commission she chaired investigates corruption allegations as an independent body, but its president is appointed by Parliament.
The anti-corruption commission president can also be removed from their position by Parliament -- if they resign; if deemed unsuitable for their role; if convicted for a crime and sentenced to at least six months in prison; or if they die, according to Article 14 of the Law on Prevention of Corruption and Conflicts of Interest. mr/
