Parliament committee resumes amendment debate on 2026 draft-budget

Skopje, 21 November 2025 (MIA) – Parliament's Finance and Budget Committee is to continue on Friday its debate on the amendments to the 2026 draft-budget.

On Thursday, the Committee reviewed but did not support several amendments submitted by the opposition, seeking additional funds for a 30% salary increase in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and in consular-diplomatic missions, funding for the creation of a unified national information system for workplace injuries, subsidies for small and medium-sized enterprises implementing circular economy practices, the establishment of climate change department, subsidies for companies investing in alternative energy sources, energy efficiency, renewable energy and digital transformation as well as funding for a study on the valorization of the Ograzhden and Kozhuf mountains.

Around 200 amendments have been submitted to the 2026 draft- budget.

Next year’s draft-budget projects total revenues of Mden 374.7 billion (€6.08 billion), expenditures of Mden 413.9 billion (€6.71 billion) and capital investments of Mden 40.5 billion (€650 million). Economic growth is projected at 3.8 percent, inflation at 2.5 percent and the budget deficit at 3.5 percent of GDP.

The plenary session on the 2026 draft-budget is scheduled for December 9.
