Prilep, 12 September 2025 (MIA) -- The first 11 kilometers of the Prilep to Bitola highway will be built by the end of 2026 and the entire 40-kilometer highway by early 2028, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski told reporters in Prilep.

"Construction works on the Prilep to Bitola highway are going well. I am satisfied with the works. We expect to have the first 11 kilometers functional by the end of 2026, and the entire 40-kilometer highway to be done by the end of 2027 or early 2028, depending on weather conditions," Minister Nikoloski said. 

"The highway, of course, connects to the Gradsko-Drenovo-Farish expressway and we will work on a highway connection from Farish to Prilep," he added.

The highway contractor is Bechtel and Enka. 

Nikoloski was in Prilep in support of VMRO-DPMNE's candidate for local mayor. mr/
