Skopje, 14 July 2025 (MIA) -  I expect that another section of the Kichevo-Ohrid motorway, the one from Klimeshtani to Ohrid, opens for traffic by the end of the summer, says Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski.

"The Kichevo-Ohrid motorway is a symbol of two periods, one of SDSM and DUI's lack of interest, incompetence and laziness, and the other of commitment and work by the VMRO-DPMNE-led government. We can realize many projects but if we fail to complete this one, we will be the same as the former authorities. The final deadline is the end of 2026 and the entire 57km-long motorway will be operational by then. A 18km-long section from Klimeshtani to Ohrid will be completed and put into use by the end of the summer," Minister Nikoloski told Alfa.

He says numerous projects in the road and railway infrastructure are ongoing, such as the Tetovo-Gostivar, Gostivar-Bukojchani and Bitola-Prilep motorways.

"In the railway sector, we will start to realize the City Train project later this year, and also work on the Corridor X fast rail. In addition, there is certain progress from Bulgaria on the Corridor VIII railway. We have put into operation the first section from Kumanovo to Beljakovce and already working on the second one to Kriva Palanka," says Nikoloski.
