Skopje, 2 July 2025 (MIA) - Parliament’s Deputy Speaker and Chair of the Committee on European Affairs Antonijo Miloshoski met Wednesday with the Director of the Transport Community, Matej Zakonjšek, as well as Deputy Director Ljuba Siljanoska. 

According to Parliament, at the meeting, Zakonjšek highlighted the fundamental goal of the Transport Community – the integration of the Western Balkan countries into the European Union’s common transport market. To that end, he stressed the importance of implementing reforms and aligning the national legislation with the EU acquis. 

Zakonjšek also underscored the importance of continued cooperation with Parliament, especially the Committee on European Affairs and the Committee on Transport and Communications, as well as the Ministry of Transport. He also highlighted infrastructure projects on corridors VIII and X as priorities, making the country a strategic transit point for both corridors. 

Miloshoski presented the legislative procedure for the harmonization of national legislation with the European acquis. He also stressed the need to place a special emphasis on the need to develop rail infrastructure, with the goal of establishing a connection between Skopje, Kichevo, and Albania. 

Miloshoski and Zakonjšek concluded that the development of quality and modern infrastructure is essential when it comes to facilitating free movement and improving regional connectivity. The meeting noted that the Transport Community remains a key factor in coordinating these processes and ensuring benefits for all citizens and businesses in the region.
