Mortality up by 0.1 percent in 2024: statistics
- According to State Statistical Office data, there were 20,201 deaths in the country in 2024, which is an increase of 0.1% compared with the previous year. The structure by sex shows higher male participation, 10,604 men or 52.5% and 9,597 women or 47.5%.

Skopje, 19 June 2025 (MIA) – According to State Statistical Office data, there were 20,201 deaths in the country in 2024, which is an increase of 0.1% compared with the previous year. The structure by sex shows higher male participation, 10,604 men or 52.5% and 9,597 women or 47.5%.
By months, most deaths (2,010) were registered in January and the least in April (1,518).
The average age of deaths was 71.9 years for males and 76.8 years for females, which means that women outlive men by 4.9 years on average.
The number of infant deaths was 47, and participation of infant deaths in the total number of deaths was 0.2% (per 100 deaths).

Мost deaths according to ICD-IX were due to circulatory diseases, up to 36.7% of the total number of deaths, neoplasms with 19.6%, deaths due to endocrine, nutritional and metabolic diseases with 7.7%, deaths due to respiratory system diseases with 4.1%, and other with lower participation.
