Minister Bozhinovska highlights country's active role in regional energy processes

Athens, 7 November 2025 (MIA) - Macedonia's presence among energy leaders from the European Union, United States and the region is a clear indicator that the country is positioning as an active and credible partner in the transatlantic energy framework, Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovski told MIA after the sixth meeting of the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC) in Athens.

Over the past couple of days, Minister Bozhinovska had the opportunity to hold bilateral meetings and discuss energy topics, and also took part in a ministerial meeting within the conference, noting that "Macedonia's presence at such fora reaffirms our path alongside European and transatlantic partners into the new energy era."

"The attention given to our country by the hosts and international partners is a validation of the active role that Macedonia plays in regional energy processes. This is a recognition of our consistent policy, reforms that are being implemented, and the trust we are building as a secure and predictable partner. Macedonia's presence at the global forum is a clear indicator that our voice is heard in the most important discussions on the energy future of the region and Europe," said Bozhinovska.

She added that the P-TEC platform brings together energy leaders from Europe and North America, setting the direction for the new energy balance, in which security, diversification and clean energy are the top priorities.

Bozhinovska said the bilateral meetings on the forum's sidelines focused on cross-border links and modernization of energy systems.

"We discussed the joint efforts to reduce our dependency from Russian gas, increase of security in supply and acceleration of the Western Balkans' integration in European energy grids. Macedonia is ready to contribute through concrete projects and partnerships. Our vision is clear - stable region and secure energy future. Macedonia is implementing European standards, with a clear vision for energy transition and modern infrastructure that ensures security and competitiveness of our market," said Bozhinovska.

At the invitation of the United States Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle, Minister Bozhinovska also attended the reception for U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum.

"It was an honor to attend the event, which was a symbol of the new transatlantic energy cooperation - a bridge that connects the two continents into a common goal: energy stability, security and sustainable development," said Bozhinovska.

Regarding the importance of energy, the Minister noted it is not only about economy but "a policy of security and trust".

"Macedonia is speaking at the table on equal terms, with a vision and clear commitment to be part of the solution for the region's energy future," said Bozhinovska.

P-TEC is the flagship platform for energy ministers and delegations from Central and Eastern Europe to work cooperatively with the US Department of Energy, other US agencies, and the private sector to address energy issues in Central and Eastern Europe. The United States, the European Union and 24 European countries, among them North Macedonia, are participating in the initiative.
