Minchev – Eyakuze: Open government and quality administration for better service of citizens

Skopje, 1 September 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Public Administration Goran Minchev met Monday with the Chief Executive Officer of Open Government Partnership (OGP), Aidan Eyakuze, ahead of a thematic regional meeting dedicated to the Open Government Partnership.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration, the meeting focused on the ongoing implementation of the 2024-2026 National Action Plan as well as the Ministry’s strategic activities aimed at improving transparency, accountability, digitization and civil participation in the institutions.

Minchev said Macedonia remains fully committed to the principles of open governance, noting that OGP is a key framework for improving the quality of public services and the citizens’ trust in the institutions.

“Our goal is to build a public administration that is professional, open, available and in service to the citizens. The Open Government Partnership enables us to strengthen transparency and accountability mechanisms, but also to create conditions for more efficient, quality and fair public services. For us, this isn’t just an international obligation, but a real opportunity to improve the citizens’ daily lives,” Minchev said.

Eyakuze welcomed the country's progress and emphasized the importance of active civil society engagement and the use of digital tools as key drivers of change within the OGP initiative. He encouraged the country to maintain its ambitious approach and to strengthen the role of the OGP Council as a forum for constructive dialogue and monitoring of implementation.

The Ministry said it would continue its proactive approach and partnership with domestic and international participants in order to further promote the transparency, integrity and efficiency of the public institutions in the Republic of Macedonia.
