Mickoski to DUI: Stop lying to your voters, you clearly don’t want reforms – as ruling coalition, we'll defeat you convincingly

Skopje, 20 September 2025 (MIA) - There is talk of holding early elections. Polls suggest VMRO-DPMNE would have over 62–63 MPs, forming a stable majority with a strong reform agenda. Yet early elections also mean lost valuable time. DUI is using the issue to collect clientelist votes, deceiving their voters into thinking they would form a coalition with VMRO-DPMNE. I say this as Prime Minister, and first as a person: principles matter, not political deals. No intrigues, no opportunism. Stop misleading your own electorate. It is dishonest and unfair to the people you have manipulated for years. As the ruling coalition, we will defeat you convincingly.

Hristijan Mickoski, Prime Minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader, sent this message Saturday to the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI).

Speaking at the party’s Skopje mayoral promotional event, Mickoski assessed that DUI obviously does not want reforms.

“Obviously, you do not want reforms. You are stuck in the same matrix as SDSM, which is a tragedy for the state. You act as a party that fights for Albanians, yet in twenty years of power, you have not delivered a single serious project for the Albanian community. Official figures show how hundreds of Albanians left the country during your rule. Tell the mothers who sent their children abroad what they received from your governance,” Mickoski noted.

According to him, DUI and SDSM not only destroyed institutional stability and brought the country to the brink of bankruptcy, but also created apathy and disappointment.

“While citizens were growing poorer, you were shamelessly enriching yourselves at their expense. Your calls for a comeback through early elections are just for show,” Mickoski noted.
