Skopje, 31 July 2025 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in a response to a SDSM MP’s question at Friday’s Q&A session criticized the opposition accusing it of making a strategic mistake by accepting the so-called French proposal while in power.
Mickoski recalled that the position of some circles in Bulgaria to deny the existence of Macedonian identity and Macedonian language is nothing new.
“You accepted what the communist leaders of socialist Bulgaria had failed to do through [President] Todor Zhivkov. It’s hard, we cannot change it overnight in one year, but we are committed to changing it. Be patient. During your term, mentioning Macedonian identity and language in the Report was heresy. You accepted it willingly by signing it, lying here, in Parliament, to assimilate the Macedonians. We won’t do it. We will fix it,” Mickoski said in a response to SDSM MP Mitko Trajchuleski.
In his response, Trajchuleski said that Mickoski as prime minister has the responsibility to make decisions and provide consensus so as to secure the future of present and future generations.
“This government not only failed to improve the negotiating framework as promised, it managed to harm our international standing, especially the one involving our European path,” the MP said speaking in Parliament.
