Mickoski: Government measures yield results, tourists and overnight stays up in first 10 months

Skopje, 14 December 2025 (MIA) - The government’s measures in the tourism sector are yielding results, as evidenced by more than a 5 percent rise in total tourists, nearly 9 percent growth in foreign visitors, and roughly 3 million overnight stays in the first 10 months of the year. We will maintain these policies, since tourism is crucial for a small country like ours, both for promotion and for generating cash for the Macedonian economy, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Sunday.

He expects that by the end of the year we will see double-digit growth in both total tourists and foreign visitors.

Темата со мигранти е непостоечка. Ние неколкупати како власт одговоривме дека не се водени такви разговори и оти ниту на крај памет не ни паѓа такво нешто. Мислам дека е редно обвинителството

“During the first 10 months, there have been about three million registered overnight stays, which is positive, and I expect this figure to rise further. We are actively pursuing policies because tourism is crucial, it promotes the country, which is significant for a relatively small state, and it generates cash for the Macedonian economy,” Mickoski stated after visiting the renovated Butel police station.

Commenting on the growth in issued building permits, he pointed out that October experienced a surge, with about 22–23 percent more permits issued compared to last year.

According to Mickoski, this means more investment and construction, which he said is good for GDP in the fourth and final quarter of the year. He added that he expects positive results by the end of the year.
